Back to School with EJA

Hello, EJA family! Can you believe we are only three weeks away from the first day of a new school year? The summer has flown by, and we have so much exciting news! The school has welcomed several new members to our team, opened a whole new class for 5th & 6th grade, began construction on our school library - the list goes on! Our teachers and staff are now hard at work getting everything ready for the new year.

Here is all (or most!) of the information you'll need to be ready, too.

1. Start Date

The first day of school is Monday, August 19. The first bell rings at 8:05am!

2. Registration

We currently have openings in all of our classrooms, but not for long! Our school is growing leaps and bounds and classes may fill up soon. If you haven't submitted your application and registration forms, now is the time! Call or visit our office (open Monday-Thursday, 3:30pm-6:30pm) to find out what forms you need in order to secure your spot. If you are new to our school and would like more information, please fill out a new student form (found here) so we are better able to answer your questions!

3. EdChoice Scholarship Program

The last day to submit an application for an EdChoice Scholarship is Wednesday, July 31. If you intend to apply, please contact our office administrator as soon as possible for more information. It's extremely important we have everything submitted by the deadline! Anyone applying after July 31 will likely not be accepted into the program.

4. Class Supply Lists

Sales are in the air, everywhere you look! Want to know what your student will need to bring to school this year? Look no further than our Parent Resources Page! Our printable class supply lists are available in four different languages. If you need help finding supplies, or have any questions regarding the class lists, please contact your student's teacher via their email (found here) or through ClassDojo.

5. Uniforms

Our official uniform shirts have the school logo embroidered on the front. Rather than selling our shirts through a single store, we have someone who embroiders the logo onto shirts for us for a $7 fee. This means you are able to purchase shirts wherever and whenever there’s a good sale! Here is the process:

  • Step 1: Buy navy, red, and white polo shirts in your student’s size. Popular retailers include Walmart, Old Navy, and Costco.

  • Step 2: Bring your shirts to the school office.

  • Step 3: Give the office administrator this form, either by printing it out ahead of time or filling out one of the copies available in the office.

  • Step 4: Wait for your shirts to be embroidered. It can take up to 2 weeks depending on the time of year.

  • Step 5: When you receive your shirts, pay the amount listed on the form.

6. Calendar

Wondering what the school has going on this year? Visit our online school calendar! Be sure to check it regularly, as we will be adding more events as we get closer to the school year, and many dates may be subject to change (looking at you, rainy day field trips). You can also connect our Google calendar to your own by following this link and clicking 'add' when it asks you to add the EJA Official Calendar. A printable version will be made available closer to the school year.

And there you have it! The six most important things you need to get a good start with your back-to-school prep. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us! It's our goal for you to feel informed and confident going into the new school year. We are so, so excited to see what 2019-2020 will bring! See you in a few weeks, everyone!
